OK - am I in labour?

Started getting horrible pains 2 hours ago and it's already down to about 5 min intervals - surely this is a bit quick for #1? Although have been getting practice braxton hicks for days on and off, and all today I have had back ache.

These are very painful at the bottom of my bump like very bad period pains....

Is it a false alarm?

You should give the labour ward a ring.

With DS (my first and only) I reached 4cm within a couple of hours, and 10cm a few hours after that. There are no hard and fast rules!

Good luck :)

Sounds like your baby may be on it's way.
Are you overdue?

I had all day back ache, an evening of twinges etc. Woke up with pain at 2am and was holding my baby by 9am.

Call the labour ward for advice.

Keepon, my cx started at 5 mins apart, so maybe not that unusual. Give the ward a ring and see what they suggest.

DS was born exactly 6 hours after the first cx, so don't think that because it's DC1 it can't be quick Grin

Good luck Grin

Good luck! My contractions started 2-3mins appart so I thought I must be counting them wrong and couldn't possibly be in labour Grin
