Childbirth

Is there any correlation between how early/late you had your first child and subsequent ones?

Suspect the answer is that it's all completely random but could do with some cheering up.

With DD I went 12 days overdue and was utterly fed up but physically absolutely fine, very sprightly and had no problems at all except for puffy feet, but they just gave me something to do to pass the time (applying hot towels to my legs, pressing different shaped things into them to make patterns etc). Moved house at 33 weeks and again at about 38.

Currently 36 weeks with DC2 and so fucking uncomfortable I can hardly bear it. CANNOT do another 6 weeks of this. Egads. The thought of another month is bad enough. Argh.

So - if I was late last time (and tbh I'm late for absolutely bloody everything Blush) does that mean I'll be late this time too?

Ds1 - 2.5 weeks late

Ds2 - 6 weeks early.

Same father, 8.5 weeks difference in delivery dates.

You never know!

DS 9 days late

If I have a 3rd I´m expecting it to be 3 days late!

I was 3 weeks early with DD1, 4 days early with DD2. I am hoping the pattern does not continue and put me 2 weeks over with DC3!

Tbh i think they tend to come whenever they like regardless of what any siblings did. Mine were 6wks early, 19 days late, 21 days late and 2 wks early. All the same father, the late ones were the boys, girls were early.

1st bang on his due date
2nd 5 days early.
Both boys and same father. Most friends thought it was down to my personality too impatient too be late.

DD is 5 weeks old, DS is 7 years old and ...

both had the same due date and both were born on the same friggin' day! Two days early, the pair of them! It'll be like Christmas Day next May in our house Confused

11 days over with dd1- no sign of labour pending, failed induction, emcs blah blah. I wasn't too bothered about going overdue though, and wasn't overly uncomfortable, I enjoyed the last few days to myself!

Dd2- was extremely uncomfortable and huge from 33wks onwards, had pregnancy insomnia and generally miserable as sin. The thought of going overdue again would make me cry. Went into labour day before EDD, had dd on due date.

Btw- having a newborn and toddler was a lot easier than pregnancy an toddler, maybe being so miserable at the end has a purpose ;)

Glad there appears to be bugger all correlation, DD was 16 days late. More reassured that any future DCs aren't guaranteed to be so bloody late!

Thanks all - it seems to be as random as I suspected then! It's so bloody infuriating having no idea when it might happen. Plus SPD seems to have kicked in today so could really do with getting this baby out NOW. Argh.
