that must be the only reason I am 10 days overdue. I have tried;

walking round the field
rubbbing bump with clary sage
drinking rasberry leaf tea
taking rasberry leaf tablets
bouncing on my birth ball
sleeping
baths

this has resulted in backache, the odd contractions and being 3cms dialated for 10 days but no bloody baby and now I am officially giving up. I wouldn't bloody mind but this is my second and Ds came on time within 5 hours !!!!

ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I have had the birth pool set up for 10 days taking up the area we normally eat in so we're eating our teas off our knees....so tempted to just fill it up for fun now.

rant over I will now get on on with my life accepting that I just have a fat belly

haha! i have one too. in fact it's so comfy that ds wouldn't allow himself to pushed out or even be pulled out and had to be cut out kicking and screaming.

Mine was like the Ritz - I went 15 days late despite being induced at 12 days! I was SO HORRID those last days. Ugh.

At least when DS came out he was big, well developed and ready to feed beautifully!

Me too, mine boys went 15 and 16 days over, induced with both but ds2 was still unmoveable, he was dragged out by emcs

yes themildmanneredjanitor I have had two sweeps, one last week and one yesterday 9am.

Have to say with the first one the midwife looked a bit confused and it didn't really feel like she had done much other than stick her hand up but yesterday's sweep did feel a bit uncomfortable.....however not a twinge at all no backache or pain from it really

tempted to have a go myself, if only I could reach :o

Pregnancy massage
Acupuncture
Orgasm (doesn't matter how you achieve this - alone or with assistance!)

Have a shag - not high on your agenda I should imagine just now but it worked twice for me

Report
prettywhiteguitar · 24/05/2011 10:01

right I will forewarn dp that on his return from washing up he will be required :)

I don't think anything works really. Just give in to it and he'll come out when he's ready!

Prettywhite - if u tell him it's his last opportunity for the next couple of months I'm sure he'll oblidge. My rationale was would rather get started with DH sperm than pig sperm.

Report
prettywhiteguitar · 24/05/2011 12:14

haha I have told him that it might be off the menu for a while but we're both too knackered half the time ! I think thats why I was thinking after the washing up might be a good opportunity Wink

To be honest the thought of pig sperm is enough to shock any one into labour

eww

well here's the update !

Tried and failed :(

It did induce some very painful contractions for 2 whole hours but that tailed off and had to resign myself to bed

so induction is booked tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to just having an end to the waiting. Bloody homebirth pool can finally be deflated too

Any chance you get mw to do you another sweep and then have another shag ? It sounds like you're on your way yourself if you got 2 hours of big contractions. Have u had a show?

Report
PorkChopSter · 25/05/2011 10:45

Term is 37-42 weeks according to the WHO. You are not overdue. Do you want to be induced?

Report
prettywhiteguitar · 25/05/2011 11:00

No show but a lot of gunk !!

I did have a show last time, and I have been slightly dilated since my due date so I really think if my waters would go I'd be off !

I really don't want to be induced but not sure what I can ask for as the sweeps really don't seem to be working and would be overdue after this sat...

Hi prettywhiteguitar, I'm 40+15 and still avoiding induction. Once you go overdue you are perfectly entitled to request monitoring if you don't feel ready for induction. After much discussion and a degree of stubbornness on my part, I now get an ultrasound once a week and a 30 minute ECG every other day. Of course if there is any sign that leaving this baby inside is doing my baby or me any harm, I would consent to any intervention, but right now I don't feel uncomfortable and I really think that I'm just not ready yet. Be strong and clear about what you want to happen. Despite what they try and tell you, you have the right to decline induction and they then have to offer you monitoring.

I think I am leaning towards giving it the weekend, I really don't want to be induced tomorrrow

I feel so close to naturally doing it would be a shame to just have the pessary or crochet hook just because the midwifes want to !

I crochet too so I have some horrid images going on in my head

I think I've got the comfiest womb ever actually. DS was 18 days overdue and DD was 13 days over.

I feel your pain...

I think I should have put a Wink in there - i'm not genuinely trying to start a bunfight over overdue grumps honest.

Definitely not wise Blush especially as you're probably: fed up, hormonal, sleep deprived etc. Erm good luck!
