I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this.

I'm just wondering when you all got your first period after having your babies?

I had my baby nearly 5 weeks ago.
I never properly stopped having bleeding, it was brown for about 2 weeks & lots of discharge like i was about to ovulate which was mainly brown/blood tinged.

Anyway i had a small amount of red blood on christmas day & yesterday & just now i've started to bleed a lot. Its bright red & i would say its like my normal very heavy periods. A few small clots too.... sorry tmi.
I'll be 5wks post c-section on Wednesday.

I can't remember when i had my first period after my other kids.

Does this sound normal? Is having your first period before 5 weeks normal?

I am having what i'd class as period type pains, no bad smell or anything.

Thank you Smile

I had lochia until 6 weeks with all three of mine. It died down and then restarted a few times. I would have gotten my period 9 months after dd if i hadn't gotten pregnant and it was 12 months with ds1 and 17 months with ds2. All three were still breastfed at those times.

If you're not breastfeeding it's more likely you're periods have returned but even so i think it would be unusual so soon after birth. I suppose the only way to be sure is to wait til next month and see what happens.

I'm EBF, DS is nearly 6 months, and still no sign of a period. But I bled for two months after my CS. It's probably worth going to the GP just to check nothing's been retained, especially as you say there are clumps.

No i'm not breastfeeding.

I have been having pain around my ovaries but when i did some ovulation tests they were negative.

If i'm still bleeding like this on Wednesday i think maybe i should see if i can get an emergency appointment with a GP.

Thanks ladies.

6 weeks on the nose after c-section. I'd had my 6 week check-up the day before and asked the question - the consultant told me "any time from about 6 weeks".
