Hi I am 39+6 today, and this morning had mild contractions (or BH??) for an hour or so , 10 minutes apart, then nothing. I have just spotted some blood in my knickers, only the size of a 50p piece, no mucous or anything, just a spot of blood (gross, sorry!) Is this normal? I am a vbac, so no idea what to expect!

Thanks in advance Smile

I hate to be the voice of doom but I'm 39 weeks now and exactly the same thing happened to me two weeks ago - loads of braxton hicks, pinky discharge that went on for about a week. I even went to be checked to see if my waters had broken, no joy. So here I am two weeks later, still feeling quite crampy on and off, loads of braxton hicks (all night last night, kept me awake for a few hours) but no sign whatsoever of baby coming.

I really hope it's all moving for you, but it definitely isn't for me!!

Thanks for the reply! Will go and have a bath with my clary sage, see if that does anything. Have been having BH for weeks endlessly too. Am due a sweep on Monday morning - something to look forward to!

ah, same happened to me a fortnight ago, bit of bleeding, really a very little but no mucous and some BH etc. Mentioned it to the midwife 2 days later at my routine appointment and was promptly packed off to hospital to get checked out and ticked off for not reporting bleeding straight away. I am rhesus negative so had to get anti-D (I forgot Blush) but they also said that any bleeding without mucous should be checked out.

I thought it was a bit of an over-reaction, though I was pleased to be looked after so well. It was nothing - they couldn't find any reason for the bleeding and I was sent home a few hours later (though they did say they could see contractions on the monitor, which I could feel but only a little).

And here I am at 40+3 2 weeks later, waiting for something to happen...

Good luck!

How are you doing now? (All of you!!)

Well I don't know about goodlife but I'm rightly fed up. Been having braxton hicks on and off all day and I'm getting random period type pains. Of course that puts me on edge but I know full well not to read anything into it because I've been feeling pretty much this way for the past two weeks Xmas Angry If I had no signs at all I think it would be easier as I could just wait and but this on/off stuff is driving me nuts.

ChippingIn · 18/12/2010 19:25

Yes, if you aren't have any 'signs' it's much easier to just carry on with life and when it happens, it happens... and you could do without the pain too!

I hope it calms down until the weather eases a bit!

Same here writerofdreams! On and off bh and period pains. Another spotting (tiny). Had a bath with clary sage in it. It smelt like chocolate limes to me!!

Had slight disaster this afternoon in that dopey DH slipped on some ice and smashed his elbow - now in a sling. Really useful for driving me to hospital if needs be!

Fingers crossed for tonight!?!

Good luck writerofdreams!

Oh no goodlife, your poor DH! If you do go into labour, he'd better not whinge about that elbow and just smile graciously while you squeeze it mercilessly hehe. Will you be able to get a taxi easily enough if needs be?

I wish these bloody braxton hicks would just start hurting and become proper fecking contractions!! You know your life has taken a bizarre turn when you're wishing and hoping for severe pain!

Welcome to the club mumatron! Waiting is such a pain in the ass isn't it? (figuratively rather than actually, unfortunately)

I with you all. Am 39+3 and habe been getting loads of BH's, period type pains and a child that feels like it's headbutting my cervix for the last two weeks!! With DS1, felt nothing and then suddenly woke up with contractions 2 mins apart - straight to hospital! This is driving me insane though, am I aren't I???

Report
mumatron · 18/12/2010 22:00

same here cj

i was telling dp that it feels like the baby is trying to poke her way through my cervix, and that she must have really long nails! lots of weird scratching sensations on the inside. very odd.

with ds i had a show then regular proper contractions, none of this stop start crap.

dd1 waters went and out she came 6 hours later.

just wish somthing would happen!!

Oh that's actually quite a good sign mumatron! Sounds like the head is fully engaged. I'm getting quite a lot of pressure down low too but not so much that it's making it hard to sit thankfully.

I would give my left arm for everything to go the way it did with your DS CJ. I feel very Envy when I read birth stories that basically say, I woke up, went into labour etc etc. My birth story will basically be, well I contracted for 15 years and then was in labour for about a century... I have zero patience at this stage!!

and why do people delight in saying 'ooh you could go at least 2 weeks over!' ??

i genuinely don't think i could cope another 2 weeks like this!

WriterofDreams · 18/12/2010 22:09

Me neither mumatron! I'm getting headbutted in the cervix too, it's such a nasty feeling The braxton hicks are making it quite hard to sleep so I can't even have that bit of peace :(

Arrrghh just come out baby, pretty please!!!

you know you've had enough of being pregnant when you contemplate scrubbing the kitchen floor at 10pm on a saturday night, in the hope it might move things on a bit.

If I was in your position I would be praying for the baby to stay where it is until this weather clears a bit - and I don't have a religious bone in my body!

You all seem quite calm about the state of the roads out there - well done :)

I know how you are feeling 37 weeks today with dc3 been having irregular contractions and crampy pains so in theory I could have 5 more weeks of this :(

Report
WriterofDreams · 18/12/2010 22:21

I know mumatron, although I'm even past that stage now, I've given up I've resigned myself to another three weeks of discomfort followed by an induction. Anything else that happens will be a bonus :(

Report
WriterofDreams · 18/12/2010 22:26

The roads aren't too bad in my part of the world ChippingIn and I'm so close to the hospital that it really shouldn't be too difficult to get to the hospital even if more snow comes down, by ambulance if necessary.

If I could sit around and stuff my face it wouldn't be too bad but I'm finding it really hard to eat, getting very bad indigestion and heartburn :( I've actually lost weight in the last few weeks and am quite bony apart from the bump, it looks pretty minging.

My heart goes out to you someday, that 5 weeks seems like a lifetime doesn't it?

Report
mumatron · 18/12/2010 22:27

chipping i live really close to the hospital so i'm not too worried. main roads are fairly clear now

only issue is that dp is on works night out and i don't think he will much use right now. good job i have been through this before!

WOD - I've got a few spare stone pounds I could courier over to you - they wont be missed! Xmas Grin I'm glad you are OK for the hospital x

Mumatron - if you do go in - take a toothbrush/change of clothes for him as well - last thing you want is him smelling like alcohol [boak]

I wonder if between you all we'll get a new little MN baby tonight??

That would be lovely wouldn't it Chipping? Although if one you bitches lovely ladies goes before I do, I will have to find out where you live and kill you!!! (Only kidding (just bout))

My BHs are coming quite regularly but they don't hurt, they're just uncomfortable. Been going now for about 3 hours. Should I time them?
