Would they induce if head not engaged?

I'm 39+4, with my 1st DC and the baby is showing no signs of engaging. Saw MW Monday and when I said it was just a waiting game now, she was non-comittal because of possible Pre-eclampsia.

I have some signs of Pre-eclampsia, (Oedema, High blood presure, Protein +2) but I've been allowed to stay at home on bed rest, with the promise that if any other symptoms come on I will go to hospital straight away.

Cervix is high, and hard, so nada going on there.

Mid-wife coming to my house Wednesday to monitor me.

So, can they, and is it likely they will induce me?

Oh and my dates are spot on as IVF baba...so no chance of them being out by anytime.

DS and DD2 failed to engage at all but I wasn't induced, so in my experience, probably not but my pg with DD1 was pretty straightforward and she was engaged with a few weeks to go.

I think they can, I know of someone whose baby was laying sideways and she was induced, all went well. The won't break your waters though because the cord can drop down etc, so I was told, but pessary and hormone drip can be used.

39 +4 no cause to worry. You still have a good couple of weeks for it to drop. Almost everyone has some signs of pre-e during pregnancy. No reason to need/accept induction.

Thanks for all your replys, I just want whats best for the baby.

My instinct is as long as she is happy I want to wait until she is ready!
