If you did NOT tear during first birth, did you tear in second or subsequent births?

Title says it all really - I didn't tear first time and wondering if that means I'm likely not to again or if it means nothing really :)

DD was 8lb 12, no idea what size this baby might be, but not getting looks of horror from midwife so guess I don't have a monster in there!

All anecdotes welcome!

DD1 8lb14 - no tear

DD2 8lb6 - very very light graze.

(Just luck I think).

ds2 - light grazing, but totally unmanaged v quick labour, which may have contributed to it

3 Normal deliveries and no tearing :) Also 1 planned section which I know is irreleant but couldn't leave last DD off the list !

Ouch, lion, but at least it wasn't quite as bad the second time..? Maybe a third wouldn't tear :)

just grazes both times (is that something to boast about or does it mean I have a fanjo like the mersey tunnel?) Anyway, sometimes the speed or position of baby causes the tear, not just the size. Hand by the face can be a problem for example.

Good point reikizen, DD was hand to her face, she came out like superman!!

DS was just big!

On the premise that babies get bigger each birth I'm definately not doing it again

Is 'graze' the term used when your skin splits open, e.g. kind of between the inner and outer labie IKYWIM? The best way I can describe it is it's like getting a stretch mark but it keeps on stretching ujtil it rips open. If so, 'graze' is the wrong word - these tears are fecking agony and caused me far more pain and took a lot longer to heal than the second degree tear to my perinium. A word far more weighty than 'graze' is needed IMO!!!!

well i was grazed and DS was 3ib 6oz - i was told it was like a paper cut. Hence on my notes it said no damage but it stung to pee.

My notes say 'grazes - not stitched.' However, they were so freaking painful that I saw stars and almost passed out if I peed, or even walked to briskly. Am cringing just to remember it.

Well I had grazes, but they weren't bad. The very first wee hurt a but, but after that it was fine. So I guess there are different degrees of grazing too!

I didn't fancy getting a mirror and having a look what that particular euphemism meant :)

DS, 6lb 9oz, 1st degree tear - no stitching required

DD, 5lb 12, no tear, just graze

3rd baby? Dunno, still waiting for her to put in an appearance....but am hoping for no tearing either!

Even with an almost 2lb increase in weight I didn't tear the second time either.
