I'm really shocked. Just reported a video on YouTube for offensive content - made from children's TV character.

DD loves LazyTown, she found a video that consists of stills of Stephanie (young girl) zooming in on her underwear area, and one showing the male adult character holding her around her neck. I'm not going to link to it. I know I should be monitoring what DD watches on YouTube, but still, I didn't expect this. Very disturbing. I've reported it to YouTube. I hope they delete it.

They won't .

Isn't she some sort of icon in the 4chan part of the Internet? There's loads of stuff out there.

You really should keep an eye in YouTube and your child anyway. You never know what will pop up in an innocent search.

Really? I had no idea.

There's one of peppa pig on fire too. I found it before DS watched it, don't think that would have gone down too well....

I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but the actress who plays Stephanie is a lot older than she looks, she's not a young girl. Not that this makes the YouTube clip any less unpleasant though.

I think I'm particularly shocked because my DD identifies with Stephanie, loves her, dances and sings like her. So it's a horrible reminder that there are people out there who would perv at her, my beautiful innocent child sad

And that's a normal reaction but there are a lot of this stuff on that lady.. just keep an eye out so the bairn doesn't see something she shouldn't.

It's a really good idea never to let your DCs google something about a TV show without you being in the room. Not least because if there is a show, a book or a film, there is likely to be fanfic and fanvids of it, and a lot of that will be quite a lot more, uh, adventurous than the original creators intended.

BiscuitMillionaire Fri 13-Feb-15 21:15:04

It's not 'adventurous' it's paedophilia.

Well, some of it is, and crotch shots of a child actor (or an adult actor depicting a child) certainly are. But I was talking about the wider world of TV, books and film. Eg, a fanvid of lingering glances between Robbie Rotten and Sportacus, cut with a porn film and played to a soundtrack of an explicit song wouldn't be depicting child abuse, because both actors and characters are adults. But you really wouldn't want your 6 year old Lazytown-mad child to stumble across it.

(I don't know if such a fanvid exists, but by the laws of the internet, it probably does now.)
