Dd meltdowns

Morning
So my dd 9 occasionally has the most horrendous meltdowns . Usually over something small that builds very quickly and lasts for hours.
Last night she had one over the dog (who she was pestering and didn't believe me when I said he would bite if she didn't get out of his face) and she very quickly went into a massive meltdown , screaming , shouting , then said she was getting a knife!! At this point I went in and told her to just get upstairs . She couldn't breathe she was totally beside herself , nothing I said was helping she was just screaming at me and running around in a frenzy.
When I eventually calmed her about an hour later we spoke about knives and why she must never get one and she said she just wanted to squeeze it to hurt herself so she wouldn't feel so angry .
I don't know what to do :( she has been attention seeking recently but I'm not sure why as she gets plenty of attention and if anything much more than her brothers because she's so demanding . I genuinely don't know where to turn and I'm scared if I go to the doctor about it they will either think I've gone too soon or it will be on her record forever when it might just be a hormonal phase .
Thank you

HI, how is it going now? It could be a hormonal phase but I would try and access help if you can. CAMHS waiting lists are long and it may settle down and then flare up again by the time you get seen. I think talking about self harm would be a red flag for me. I would not worry about it being on her record, if she needs help then she needs help.
