We are moving to a flat with a garden. I keep hearing about people keeping chickens. My dh brings homw fresh eggs from a work coleague who keeps chickens. I want one now!

Am I mad? My flat is in central London by the way if that makes any difference. Is it easy? How much space do you need?

You'll probably be best off with a (fox proof!) house and run, one that is fairly easily moveable so you can move it around the garden a bit though in winter you may find you need to put bark chippings as the base for the run as chickens will convert grass to mud pretty quicky in bad weather!

I know a few people who have chickens in cities, so don't think you're mad at all! But don't get a rooster! Whilst you may not want one of these the Omlet site is quite good for bits of info for first time chicken keepers - www.omlet.co.uk
