Ruddy great rat

Has moved in under the chicken House! The girls were out in the garden, I was poo picking when the bugger came out ran over to their food bowl and ran back!
I'm not squeamish about rats having had pet ones but not happy!
DH came into garden and it bloody came out again!
So what's best to do? Don't want to put poison down if course, live trap? It's bloody massive! Looked male. Our coop is very slightly off the floor so he's obviously made a nice home underneath.
We have cats, one will occasionally catch mice but I think the cooks are better at that. This rat is massive too, half the size of the bloody cat!
He has of course been named Templeton but is not staying! Any ideas of best thing to do?
I thought we were pretty clean with the girls too, no food left around, coop and runs get poo picked every day...

Yikes. For starters remove food at night. Then try the council?

Our local council don't do pest control any more 😒we've got to get a guy out for a wasps nest (all going on here!) so think will ask him what best - although I think pest control guys tend to be all about putting poison down in my experience 😕
Yep we always put the food away at night, this was 3 in the afternoon! He was so brazen!
