So having solved the ‘chickens can wander off down the drive ‘ issue of earlier this week I was feeling very calm and happy about our new chickens wandering about the garden all day. Then just now DD has come in to say that a buzzard swooped down and hid unconvincingly in the hedge as she was putting the chickens back in the run. They are safe for the night as the run is covered but does this mean their days are numbered?? I really want them to free range as much as possible but I can’t watch them so they are unprotected.

Try keeping them in the coop for a few days and eventually the buzzards will give up. Hopefully x

Could you make an extended run, or a larger covered area? Even some fruit netting stretched across an area would probably work.
We have buzzards round here, but they have a huge area they cover, I'm not sure shutting in for a few days would deter them.
