Sudden death!

Found my light Sussex dead in the coop this morning, she seemed fine yesterday, she was only about four months old but hard to know if she had been laying as we have 12 hens a mixture of speckled and warrens.
Anyone have any ideas? Obviously keeping an eye on the rest of the flock

Unfortunately it just happens sometimes. One of our hens died at less than a year old but the rest of the flock were fine.
Might be worth worming the flock and giving everything a good clean for reassurance?

You could send off for a worm count which would also rule out cocci which might be worth doing to protect the rest of your flock.

You could also get a necropsy done too if you're concerned.

If she hadn't been showing any ill health signs at all, is there any chance she could have banged her head on something? They have surprisingly thin skull bones and I've known a couple run into a gate post and die a few hours later.
