Support/advocacy group for victims of major incidents (Grenfell, terrorism etc)

If anyone's been a victim of a major incident, like terrorism, riot, accident with multiple casualties etc, I've set up a new group here so people with similar experiences can support each other and those of us who've dealt with the aftermath of losing a home or being a victim of violence can advocate for others.

I was a victim of the riots in London in 2011, my house was set alight whilst we were inside and we escaped but lost everything. When you go through something like that, it can help to talk to others who understand the feelings you go through in the aftermath and can advise on the practicalities of putting life back together.

Hi alba. I meant to ask, is it okay to join the group to support the cause, rather than as someone who is a SOMI?

I think yes if someone has a particular skill to contribute like legal advice or insurance specialism - but I'm trying to keep it limited to those who've got some level of understanding from a similar experience if that makes sense.

Of course, that makes sense

Don't suppose (being very cheeky!) you want to make a public page that is open to anyone? So non-SOMI like me can help get awareness out there for you?

I don't have any specialist advice that would be useful to the group, but what you are doing is so admirable and I want to be able to help smile

You can share the link with anyone and the group is searchablesmile
