i currently have an extremely fast S4 Estate and there actually isn't that much room in the boot and it's drinking me out of house and home. However I've not had a baby before and don't know how much room they and their accoutrements take up!
My DP and I do a lot of driving as he lives in London and I live in the country, and we often go and visit our respective families. In other words the car gets used A LOT, locally every day and longer journeys several times per week.
I'm thinking about an A6 Allroad diesel as I need 4 wheel drive, or will that still be too small?

renault megane - very comfy and the extra height is very useful - they are also quite cheap

My MIL has an all-the-trimmings Nissan Xtrail and I think it's fab! All that space, all the toys, really quite fast. Only problem is it really is quite high, and being a shortarse myself, I find doing DD's straps up in her car seat really awkward.

I think an A6 would be just right. DH wants to swap his A3 for one.

For the record, for the first 10 months of DD's life, his car was off the road (budgetary reasons) so we nipped around in my Fiat Punto. We even drove to halfway down France in it when she was 8 weeks old, and all the crap we thought we needed fitted - quite snugly, but it fitted grin

We managed with 2 children (18 months apart) with DH's Subaru Impreza no problem. My Peugeot 307CC was fine too! No need for a monster truck if you don't want one!
