Group 1 Rearfacing Car seats - advice please

DD is 7.5 months, aprox 10kg and getting big for her baby carrier car seat. We're going on holiday in a couple of weeks and will be doing a lot of driving. Am getting a bit worried she's going to grow out of the seat while we're away and so want to get her new seat before we go. Obviously at this age its important to keep her rearfacing.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on which seat would be best for us.

We have a renault modus so space is an issue, not sure if any of the rearfacing seats are going to fit, although I'm short so plenty of space behind me when I'm driving. Also, would like it to be able to move it easily between cars as my parents will be looking after dd once a fortnight, and will be driving dd on the motorway, so obviously need a good seat for their car too.

There is a place near us that sells the Recaro Polaric and Brio Zento, so will be going to have a look at those but would appreciate any thoughts or advice you may have.

Thanks for your help

Hmmm well unless her head is over the top of the car seat already she won't grow out of it that quickly.

I have a pink britax rearfacing til 4 and then forward facing until 7 that I may be selling once I get my new car on Friday as dd is now 4 and the new car has isofix - hurrah!

I've just got that BeSafe one that LG linked to for my huge 6mo, it's great, he's so comfy in it and it's solid. He fitted fine in his old seat lengthwise CarGirl, but widthwise I had to shove him in towards the end!

Check reviews on the Brio Zento, I don't think it's that comfortable from what I've read, although it does seem small and compact.

Have you been onto rearfacing.co.uk? They've got links to some good sites to get more info. These seats aren't cheap so I felt I had to do loads of research to avoid making a bloody expensive mistake.

Thanks everyone. Like barleycorn width is more of a problem than length. Am struggling to get the straps done up on the longest setting, and its going to be cooler on holiday so she'll be wearing more layers.

We used a britax stage 0+ and had no problems despite huge babies so I wonder if the straps come up longer on them, or were on the models 7 years ago!

the elite usese anchoring straps so you just buy a 2nd set to leave in an additional car if you want to.

I've got a silver cross ventura plus at the moment, so maybe the straps come up shorter on that.

That's a good idea with the extra anchoring straps. Think I need to just get out and look at some of these seats, as am getting myself more and more confused here!
