Any thoughts on these? We’re going to need a new car seat for our nearly 4yo soon.
We have a constant problem with her complaining the straps aren’t tight enough & wondered if one of these might be a solution. Any experience gratefully received, I find the whole area of car seats boggling tbh, obviously we will be checking reviews etc as well.

Hopeful bump. Also I’ve realised it’s called an impact shield.

We had one for our DS and really liked it, it was a Cybex one that could be converted for different stages - maybe called Pallas? It had one of the highest safety ratings at the time we bought it and was a Which Best Buy, if I remember correctly.
In fact we’re still using it as a high backed booster and he’s now 7.5 and nearly tall enough not to need a car seat anymore so was certainly worth the money we paid!

Thank you that’s encouraging.

Hi OP, did you get the seat? I wouldn't have thought that an impact shield would be very much use for a nearly 4yo, as it's likely she'll be near the 18kg limit of the shield portion of the seat. In addition this type of restraint works better with children at the bottom end of the weight class, rather than the top as they tend to be too tall to get the intended curve around the shield, meaning it performs alarmingly like a lap belt.

I would look at the Joie Bold instead, unless you're happy to go straight into a booster seat.
