Baby's Head lolling forwards in car

Hiya

My DD is 5.5 months old. She is in a I-size seat for 0-18 months but has outgrown the newborn insert and now her head lolls forwards in the car when she falls asleep. We have to regularly drive 45 mins so she often drops off.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to keep her from doing this as I know it is unsafe?

I am unable to reposition it as it's on one of those fixed bases and just strapping it in with seatbelts doesn't seem to help.

I'm not sure if any of the products sold on the market would make it more unsafe. Maybe this one is just too upright. Do I need to get a different car seat?

Did you check that the seat was compatible with your car? It’s a common problem in cars that have sloped seats - usually it’s advised to use the seatbelt instead of the isofix but that’s clearly not an option. I’d be inclined to look at a different seat.

Thanks @welshweasel . It can go in with the seatbelt as well so we are going to see if that helps. It is meant to be compatible with the car but clearly not quite working. Yes we made need a different seat

Do you know which seat it is? Could you try putting the insert back in? Usually the ages/weights given are just a guide.

Does the seat have any recline positions at all? Usually putting them into a more reclined position helps with head flop.

Also check that the headrest is set to the correct height for your baby if it's one that can move up and down.

Not sure if you’re anywhere near an In care safety centre but might be worth popping in or giving them a call if the seat is one the stock in particular. You might be able to get a wedge for the seat so it reclines a bit more?

Might be worth contacting the cat seat manufacturer as well, they may be able to help with fit etc
