Toddler takes arms out of car seat straps

Please can someone recommend a car seat my toddler can not escape from! I have to put her car seat in the middle seat position and I'm very worried about any accident as she removes her arms very easily from the car seat. Are there any car seats that are different in design and which prevent this?

Don’t know of any specific car seats but I got a clip that clipped across the chest that stopped mine from escaping.

I have the maxi cosi two way pearl and when I properly tighten the straps there's no way my dd could wriggle out. What seat do you have?

I second the clip! I was I got a bunch of them for my son and used them for high chair and pram too! X

There are only two devices that are tested and safe to use: the Be Safe belt collector or the 5 point plus harness. The Be Safe one is supposed to be better.

Do make sure your straps are tight - only two fingers should fit in between the child and the strap

Another anti escape provision is that some seats have very large chest pads with rubber on the back which sort of clings to the child's clothing providing friction - I think the Britax seats have this. That might be worth looking into if you have no luck with the anti escape add on things.

Are the shoulder straps adjusted correctly for her shoulder height and are you tightening the straps properly? Also, no bulky coats etc?

Cybex sirona is the only seat DC has not escaped from!

I'm having the same issue with my toddler. I don't think the straps are very comfortable and that's why she wriggles out. I've been looking into getting a new car seat for this reason.
There's the cybex Juno 2 fix which uses a safety cushion instead of the 5 point harness. Only thing it's only stages 0-1.
There's also the Cossato hug which has an anti escape system.

I have seen the coastal anti escape one and was going to buy one til I came back to read this thread today! What are these clips called please? They could save me a lot of money!

The Cosatto seat just uses the 5 point plus which you can buy separately and add to any 5-point harness seat. It's also not a very good seat, it's really flimsy and the side protection is rubbish.

The name of the clip which is approved for use on EU seats is the Besafe Belt Collector. You can get other clips but they aren't safe.

I looked into the Cybex Pallas after @TitianaTitsling mentioned it and decided to get it for my DD.
Had it 2 days now and have been on some long car journeys. It's a good alternative to the harness with its safety cushion. It feels very safe and best of all, no complaints from DD. She likes it and is very comfortable in it. So thanks Titiana!

I have a BeSafe Belt Collector and it's great! Solved the problem. Toddler did work out how to undo it eventually but then got bored and just leaves it be now, so it has basically broken the habit of trying to escape even though it's still possible. I also have the BeSafe Belt Guard which is the newer version, but be aware that one only works with BeSafe seats due to the way it velcros on. The Collector (that looks a bit like a paperclip style contraption) can be used on any seat (I have one BeSafe and one Britax).
