Best car seat sleeping toddler

Hello. Would anyone be able to recommend a car seat for a toddler (rear facing) that means they can recline back and not have a flop head forward when they sleep. Just wasted loads of money on a new seat only to find when my 18 month old tried to sleep her head flopped and kept waking her so she couldn't sleep. Angry

Any recommendation?! Thanks xxSmile

If you're on Facebook there is an excellent group called Car Seat Advice UK.

The best seat depends on the car you have and your child's centiles for height and weight. If your child is above average height and/or weight you'll need a 25kg rear facing seat.

What's the car seat that you just bought and don't like?

Maxi cosi pearl (?) i think thats it. You can pull it out so its reclined, but you have to do that before you depart iyswim. Ie if you think they will sleep on the journey you recline it before you head off

What car do you have and what car seat did you buy?

Head flop often happens because the slope of your car seats means the seat is too upright. Isofix isn't good if you have sloped seats so you'd be better off with a belt fitted seat to get more recline. The Axkid Minikid and Britax Two Way Elite would be good choices. You can also get a wedge for the Minikid to get extra recline.

I've got this. It reclines a lot, is easy to use. Currently £250 at Halfords.

I have same as soontobe60. My toddler sleeps in it regularly with no head flip.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've got a joie i anchor advance which I use with isofix base rear facing. I wonder whether my isofix leg needs to come down a bit? We were using the joie car seat on the same base which was great but now she's way too big. I've got a Honda Jazz.

The Honda Jazz doesn't have too sloped seats as far as I know but we have the original I-anchor and the recline on those seats is awful. As I said, isofix generally doesn't give as good recline as belt fitting so if you can return it, I'd swap it if you can? The Minikid or Britax Two Way Elite are very good if she's tall or higher on the centiles for weight. If she's not, the Joie Stages would be a much better choice. I think most of the Joie seats are ok but the I-anchor doesn't have a great reputation.

Yes the seats are not sloped at all really. I think I'll try to adjust the isofix bar but if not might have to shell out for another one as I can't take it back unfortunately. Thanks for everyone's advice x

And yes she is very tall for her age so those suggestions would be good for us- thanks Smile

If she's tall you should definitely get a group 1-2 seat (ie up to 25kg) because a lot of the group 1 seats (up to 18kg) will be outgrown by height before they are outgrown by weight.

The FB group I mentioned is good, also if you're near a branch of the in car safety centre they're excellent.

I've got a joie stages belt fitted that does recline a fair bit rear facing.

Pipi You could also contact Joie through their Facebook page. I sent photos of the ridiculous recline with my I-anchor. They tried to suggest a couple of things (including that it was my fault Hmm) but then did refund the seat with proof of purchase. They've had a lot of complaints about that seat so I think they're used to it TBH. They'd probably swap it for a Stages with very little fuss and then you could get a 25kg seat when she outgrows it rather than shelling out now.

Thanks everyone that is so helpful. I'll definitely contact them through their FB first and then see what they say. I'll def be looking at a 1-2 group seat too- thanks!
