Had such a stressful day over car seats!!

DD is 2, I ordered a Cosatto Zoomi yesterday because she constantly gets her arms out of the straps and even though cosatto is not my first choice (we had britax) anything is safer than her not being strapped in!!

BUT THE LITTLE ANGEL devil CAN EVEN GET OUT OF THIS!!!!!

Were do I go from here ???

Excuse me if this is a silly question , but are you sure they were tight enough?

I would do it up tighter and tell her why..My 2 year old understands concept of danger etc. Also rewards for staying in, removal of treats for not. At least she's not doing the buckle I guess!

Make sure it's really quite tight. There should only just be space for two fingers.

Then you can try a belt collector. There are only two available that are crash tested:

Yes was actually to tight as the buckle was pressing into her stomach! She managed to get her arm through the top part! Shes to flexible 😩

Are there different levels for shoulder straps? Put on a Lower one.

Houdini strap or an impact cushion.

We have the Cybex M-Fix booster and it's fantastic, there is a version which includes the cushion so it can be used earlier. Not the safest option I'm sure but safer than climbing through the straps.

My son was always able to take his arms out. We tried the Houdini strap, worked great - for about 20mins!!! Then he learned to open it too. It just took constant having to pull over and putting his arms back on. Threatening the police. Whatever works! He's quite slight, with narrow shoulders so was easily able to slip his shoulders out.

She has a speech delay and doesn't really understand when I tell her she will get hurt if she doesn't stay in her carseat, will try and lower the strap one FX 🤦🏻‍♀️

Have you tried the Britax 2 way Elite. Really narrow set straps works well for my Houdini. 9kg up to 18kg FF and up to 25 kg RF.

However tight the straps my DD always had a gap at her concave stomach in the Cybex Sirona.

Or impact shield which looked pretty well impossible to escape from when I tried it - eventually went 2we and staying rf.

I have never shouted at my child more than the first time he did this (two way elite interestingly). I full on read the riot act to him and scared him. He needed it. A 2 yo pissing about with his straps on the motorway is a no.
He never did it since.

Maybe check the straps are exactly level with her shoulders when she is strapped in.. I was told that if they are slightly below the shoulders it allows for more space and makes it much easier for them to get their arms out

Hi, my son can undo his buckle too. It was so worrying. I tried everything, tightening the belt, leaving no gaps, extra buckles you can buy. Nothing worked!
I had to keep stopping the car and giving him a good talking too. Telling him what can happen. Then the punishment was i would tie a scarf through the straps and over the buckle. He didnt like that.
If you have an accident they dont waste time with trying to figure out how to open your belt, they cut them out.
It use to take twice has long to go somewhere, because of all the stopping. I couldnt go on long drives for a while. So no going to see nanny and he missed that.
Eventually he stopped, because he got fed up from all the stopping and the scarf.
If that doesnt work try giving them a tablet with games or cartoons on them to keep them occuppied.

My dd did this, didn't worry me. She still could not physically get out of the car seat and still have some element of safety.
I don't remember when but she's stopped now.
I didn't make a deal about it, she might occasionally get one arm out so she can reach a toy or something. Better than nothing right?
I wouldn't like to be strapped in so I couldn't move at all either, and it's bad enough for them that they are stuck in a seat as it is.
Maybe try distractions with toys or treats in the car?
