Car seats

Group 2/3 seat, with ISOFIX + Top tether - does this exist???

As the title suggests, I'm keeping Google very busy trying to find out if such a seat exists!

i.e.
Size: Group 2-3
ISOFIX.
Top Tether.

i have found ISOFIX + Top Tether for Group 1-2-3 (Britax Romer ADVANSAFIX III SICT), but we're beyond needing the Group 1 features, so was hoping to jump straight in to 2-3.

Cheers!

Group 2 is a high back booster so although the seat may have isofix, the child is restrained by the car seat belt.

Are you looking for a 25kg harnessed seat? In which case your options are the Joie Bold or Cosy and Safe Excalibur.

How old is your child and what do they weigh?

Top tether isn't needed in a group 2 seat. The isofix is only to hold the seat in place particularly going round corners, when the child climbs in and out and also so it isn't loose in the car when the child isn't in the seat.

The child is secured by the car seat belt with the seat positioning it properly and providing extra side impact protection.

Hello,

I assumed a top tether would add a bit of bracing to the seat (the safer the better, right?), but it fit's not necessary for a Group 2-3 then i'll stop looking for it!

Will probably just go for a Maxi-Cosi Rodifix Air Protect Group 2/3, as we used Maxi-cosy for him from 0-4. He's just over 4 now, and about 18kg i think.

thanks.

We have Rodifix iñ one car. Britax Kidfix in the other. I'd say the Britax is a better seat.

Have you checked out the Besafe HBB? They have SIP if I recall correctly, and turn in the event of a collision. I’m explaining myself badly, sorry! We’d have gone for them but we already had HBB before they were released.

Yes :) I love Besafe. We got our first ERF from them 9 years ago, back when erf in the uk basically didn’t exist! They were fab seats, def a brand I’d trust.

Ok, thanks.

at around £250 it's at the higher end of the price spectrum, but i don't mind spending on something that will last, be safe and useful on a daily basis.

Op get to the shops. Find the one that suits your car best. Different seats suited our different cars.
Get the kid to try it out too, they might feel more comfy in one than another.

Sometimes I do wonder if people who push really expensive seats on here have a vested interest.

Def not cheap. At least a HBB lasts a while though.
We have the rodifix. The kids like them. There’s no cushioning on the base, but I think that’s fairly normal for HBB, and the kids have never complained.

Regarding the top tether, the rodifix has a stretchy hook behind the head rest which can thread through the car’s headrest (or it used to anyway, ours are a few years old now), but I’m sure I remember reading that the reason the headrest of the HBB wasn’t designed to be firmly fixed to the seat was because if the child is thrown a little forward in their seat in a crash then it’s better for the seat to travel with them so that their head continues to be within the support of the HBB’s head rest. Maybe that’s why there’s not many seats with top tether?

High back boosters don't have too tether. They are not designed to be held onto the seat by anything other than the car's seat belt. Even the isofix is only to hold the seat in place if there's no child in the seat and to save you from strapping it in by the seatbelt. If a child is strapped in using the seat belt, the isofix does nothing to restrain them in a crash. A HBB is supposed to have some flex to move With the seat belt in order to reduce the force placed on the neck.

The Be Safe HBB is the only isize HBB produced so far so it meets far higher standards in terms of side impact than any other HBB. That's why it would have been recommended.

As for people 'pushing' seats for their own gain, report posts if you feel the need. The Minikid and Two Way Elite are the most recommended seats on the site (by me as well as many others), not because they're expensive, but because they're the safest seats going.

We have the Recaro Monza Nova. Had it a few years now and got the same one for our other car. It's perfect for us and costs around £149. Be careful, they also do a non- isofix one which just doesn't feel as secure.

Should have said, DS loves it as it has speakers in the headrest. He plugs the iPad in and has surround sound and we can't hear bloody YouTube which is great!

Isofix only has a maximum weight of 33kgs (including the weight of the seat) that's why the isofix seats only go up to 18kgs. If you want to rear face for longer you're looking at a belted seat with top or bottom tethers, or some brace against the passenger seat. The FB groups car seat advice UK and a-z of rearface get are really useful.
Or if you want t to forward face there is the diono radian 5 or Joie bold to name a few that are harnessed forward facing to 25kgs but rear facing is the safest possible type of car seat even after 18kgs.

Yes, you’ve got me sussed. I am a national supplier. I find my location of being on a remote Scottish island works as an ideal base.

We had TWEs too, they were great. I loved the izi kid and izi combi, but they went to max 18kg back then, so we used the TWEs from 3-6.

Jane montecarlo here, but the added isofix makes the seat belts very difficult to do up my Renault Modus. It's fine however in the Ford Galaxy. Worth trying out a seat in your cars. I prefer the isofix so I know they are secure when the kids aren't in them so safe in a crash and won't take me out!

We have a joie bold. Top tether, isofix and seat belt is used to fix it in place and has a 5 point harness suitable up to 25kg. Which is main reason we purchased it. My lb looks very comfortable in it
