Hello everyone

I’m in need of some help I regards to whether we can fit three car seats in the back of our golf. We currently have a 4 year old who is in a high back booster, a 2 year old in a britax romer seat and I’m 16 weeks pregnant with our third. My question is can we fit 3 seats in the back? I have the silver cross simplicity seat with the isofix base from my second but unsure to whether it will fit.

Thanks everyone Smile

Best thing to do is try them but I doubt they will tbh and if they do it will be a tight squeeze! Are they not bringing in rearfacing laws soon? If so theyre a lot bulkier than forward facing and definitly wont fit

Hi doubt it very much. They are roomy but not enough for 3 seats I wouldn’t have thought. Plus fastening would be a nightmare

I'm pretty sure you won't in a Golf. You need a car which has 3 proper seats if you've got a combination with at least 2 proper harnessed seats. There's a very slim chance if you swapped all seats to the narrowest versions (eg. The Silver Cross is a huge infant carrier) but even then I highly doubt it.

If you don't want to or can't buy a new car, the safest option is to put either your two year old or your newborn rear facing in the front seat with the airbag turned off (preferably disabled). It's a perfectly safe option - really common in Sweden where car safety is far better than in the U.K.! I doubt you'd be able to get an adult comfortably in the back seat as well but it's a good option if the car is likely to just be used for one driver and the 3 kids.

The Facebook group 'car seat advice uk' is the best place to look for car seat advice. If you search for cars with 3 car seats you'll get lots of posts asking the same question.

For 4 yo mothercare palma it’s 35 cm so the smallest hbb I could find
The others are 41 cms for 0+ or 43 cms max for 2 yo so you should fit them
