Car seats

3 door car

So I have a 3 door Ford Fiesta 55 and have bought the joie tilt, however I have fitted the seat into the car and it is very bulky and takes up most of the space and front seats have to be moved forward all the way. The seat still has all of the tags on and we have the box, I was just wondering if others would get a different car seat? Or have any recommendations for a small car

How old is your child? We use the Britax Two Way Elite as spares in our Fiesta.

She's almost 8 months but is getting super heavy in the silver cross car seat

What centile does she follow for height and weight?

I'm not sure as we haven't been seen by a HV for quite some time. I just know I am struggling to hold her in the car seat and get it all clipped in etc

It would be worth trying to get her weighed because if she is above the 50th centile and you wanted to get her a car seat that would last until 4 (the age that she could safely go into a high back booster), you need to know if she's going to be 18kg before she is 4. If so, it would be worth considering a seat with a 25kg weight limit, but they don't tend to fit those until they're about 12mo.

Although the Tilt has an 18kg weight limit, it has a very short shell which means most children outgrow it long before 4 and it's only really suitable for children who are quite small.

If she is going to be less than 18kg at 4, you would be better considering the Joie Stages.

If she's going to be more than 18kg, the 25kg rear facing seats are the best choice but she may be a bit small for them for the next few months. The Britax Two Way Elite is the one I've used in a fiesta, the axkid Minikid is another really good one.

If you join the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk', you can search for fiesta or 3 door cars and see what other people successfully use. It's the best source of online car seat advice. Otherwise take your car to an independent car seat retailer (not Halfords, Mothercare etc) to get one fitted in your car.

Thankyou so much. I've heard quite a few people mention the Britax two way and the axkid minikid so will have to have a look! I mean I could use the joie tilt but it's just the space for the passenger that I'm bothered about. I also don't have an airbag button in my car which is a pain!

I'm not sure where my nearest car seat shop is but I'll have a google

If you join the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk' you should be able to ask for the best car seat retailer to visit.
