Car seats

Joie Bold - Vs - Maxi-Cosi Titan Pro

So the time has come to start thinking about a move away from the 2-way pearl that we use for both the kids, and on to the next-stage of seat.

Currently both weighing around 15kg and 3 months away from 4 years.

There still seems to be plenty of room left in the 2-way pearl , but i think the law says i should change when we hit the age (which i think we will before weight) and also that isofix base leg will not be missed!

I've looked at both, they both have the same fiddly harness catch, but the stand out differences were that the maxi-cosi felt a bit better built, although very stiff to adjust , where the bonus with the Joie Bold, was that it stays in "harness mode" for a lot longer and is almost £100 cheaper.

Interested to hear what people have to say about both, i'm led to believe the titan-pro is fairly new so have not been able to find any reviews yet!

The age is purely for guidance. Height or weight limits are the legal bits so if you want to keep the Pearl you'd be fine for now.

There is a school of thought that suggests that once a child is forward facing and fits all the criteria for a high back booster (at least 4yrs, preferably 4.5yrs+, 15kg+ and mature enough to sit in a HBB) it is safer for them to be in a HBB booster rather than a harnesses seat. If you search the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk', there's more on this.

So I'm your position, I'd keep the Pearls for until they reach the weight limit (or at least another 6-12 months) and the go straight for a high back booster.
