Cheap toddler rear facing ?

Does anyone have any recommendations

We need something rear facing, not iso fix, for one year old (for grandparents car)

I bought one for £50 (half price) from mothercare for just this purpose. Was very pleased with it for the price. Was their own brand birth-4 years one.

Thanks more - is it rear facing? All the ones I've seen are forward facing.

I think Joie do cheaper erf seats. We have the Britax 2way elite which was 220 quid but its done ours from 9mo to 5yo rear facing, then forward facing for another year. So a high outlay but weve had plenty of use.

Joie have the tilt and steadi which all rear face until 18kg and are both under £100. If you pay more you can get the stages or every stage for under £200

The Joie range. As well as the tilt and steadi they have the stages /every stage which will do you all the way through as it converts to a high back booster, so may be worth stretching to if you can.

Yes it was rear facing, non-isofix and 2 recline positions. Removable newborn insert.

I also recommend the Britax two way elite. I had to buy it from a Finnish website and have it sent here but saved loads that way (got it for around £125).
It lasts rear facing up to 6 years old so well worth the money! (And much safer)

The TWE needs to rest on the passenger seat in front and has tethers. Just something to be aware of if it's going to be in the grandparents' car - they need to know how to fit it if they do need to move the passenger seat etc. The In Car Safety Centre stock it in this country.

more that seat only rear faces to 9kg. The op wants a seat that rear faces a toddler (so at least 2 to 3 yo).

There really isn't anything cheap and rear facing to fit over 18kg , look at Axkid seats we have rekid which is good for up to 25kg, but wasn't cheap . Following this because we could do with another rear facing seat for second car .

Thanks everyone, turns out mum doesn't have isofix which limits the options on good safety ratings. DH is very 'research all the options to death' and isn't fully convinced by the jolie Range, which is a shame as I like them. I think they'll win in the end as it's all round best option but the debate continues Hmm

Think I saw joie stages rear facing on Argos website for £99! We have 2 of these and they are good seats!

We have the Joie Stages and the Every Stages. V easy to fit with a seat belt, we've been happy with both so far. I did a fair amount of research and felt like we got the most seat for our money with Joie.

I have a Halfords rear facing. Was about £50 when we got it a year or so ago. Had no issues with it and will last until age 7ish.

What's his issue with Joie? They do get good crash tests, apart from the Every Stage I believe.

You need to be careful with the own brand ones because they often RF only for Group 0, not Group 0+ so only until 9 or 10kg rather than 13kg which really limits their usage.

To be honest I'm beginning to think I'm being unnecessarily cheap - we can pay more if we have to. It'll just be used to little (10 minutes a week!) but if it needs to be done it then it does


Weirdly I wouldn't want a second hand one even though I'll be giving our old ones away and would love someone to benefit from them

Which are terrible at reviewing car seats, especially rear facing ones! Please don't let your DH go on their advice!

If he wants to do some proper research then look into the Swedish plus tests as those that have passed are the safest seats on the market.

Also look at the Facebook group 'car seat advice for mummies and daddies' (ignore the babe). It is run by ERF specialists and their advice is excellent.
