Hi my first post today. I hope someone can help. We have had a maxi-cosi pearl car seat for just over a year and my 2year old can open the safety harness. Whilst we have told her she shouldn't get out I'm not happy that she can do this and until today was unaware this was becoming the norm. I was most disappointed with the feedback today when going into the store I purchased it from to be told talk to my 2 year old! I'm not about to put her in charge of her safety. I telephoned halfords who were most helpful and said mums net give great advice about additional safety devices to stop the child from releasing these safety harnesses. Any advice or alternative car seats, please. Thanking you in advance.

I was only talking to my fs about this the other day. He's now 13. He went through a phase of doing this. I think they all do. Thing is they have to be easy release in case of an accident and you have to get them out quickly I believe. I bought a thing called a snugsit. Don't think they do them now as not recommended to modify. Basically was a really thick strap that velcroed over the fastener. He could still escape but at least it gave me a heads up when I heard the crkkkkkch of the Velcro so I could pull in somewhere safe to re-contain him. He grew out of it eventually. Great little trading company I've just remembered I got it from. Don't even know if they're still trading!
