I would like to see more research on impact shields as there's very conflicting reports. There are different types of impact shield as well. The ones in the test seem to be where the seatbelt holds the shield in place. We have a cybex sirona which does have an independently fixed shield as part of the seat, to me it looks a lot more fitted and secure but I would like to see if this is the case. We plan on only using it rear facing anyway so it may be irrelevant but would be interested to know.

TBH you need to question the sources of reports like this. Some impact shield seats like Kiddy have incredibly good test results from truly independent testing organisations such as Stiftung Warentest, ADAC, OAMTC, TCS and Which? These testing companies have very good reputations and awarded some car seats with shields the highest ratings ever for safety.
