Hi there

I want to get a new stage 1 carseat to replace the Maxi Cosi Tobi we currently use that is 6 years old. It will be used by my 2.2 year old who is 92 cm and 2.4 stone and then by a baby due in March when they have outgrown the infant seat.

I was wondering whether anyone has any experience of the new Maxi Cosi Rubi? Should I go for that or a Priori? I hate the straps on the Tobi and they never feel tight enough so don't want to get another one of those. It needs to fit in the middle of the back seat of a Volvo XC90 with a Kiddyfix on one side and a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix on the other.

Would love a recommendation

Many thanks

If you really want a Maxi Cosi have you considered a MC Mobi? There will be new laws coming in this year re. car seats and there will be a minimum age of 15m to forward face so you may well find baby is out of their baby bucket before then.

I have an XC 90 and have 3 seats across in the back, a m&P primo viaggio for baby, a besafe x3 combi for 2 yr old and a cybex solution high back for 4 year old. I have the cybex in the middle so 4 yold can climb in himself over the centre console. He straps himself in ( i check). The rearfacers fit either side. They are all big chunky seats and fit well. ( i had 2 besafes before fitted ans still got the booster in the middle)

I would seriously look at an extended rearfacer, not only is the law changing but do some research and make your mind up. The new cybex sirona looks fab (i so want the built in dvd player, how cool is that?)

No blood and gore just a short clip that gives you the basics. Lots of good info on www.rearfacing.co.uk.

In scandinavia all kids travel rearfacing until the age of 4. Its the law.
