Hi, I have a Jane baby car seat that I used for my last baby - I had to strap it in the car each time I used it and both me and my hubby had such a nightmare with it that I vowed never to use it again. I don't have isofix in my car but I would like an easier to use seat.

Do I need to have isofix to have a base fitted into my car? Are there separate seats that come with a base or can any seat fit into one? Or do I have to stick with have a nightmare 9 months or so until baby can go into an upright forward facing seat?

Thanks, Rebecca

We had a jane one and it was a nightmare for in and out. Opted for a Maxi-cosi cabriofix one with the next nippers and it was much better for ease of strapping.

We didn't have isofix in our car so we had to go with next best option too. Smile

Maxi Cosi and Britax both do belted bases for use with their Group 0+ seats.

Thanks for your replies. Now next (probably very stupid) question. Would I be to slot in a different brand car seat in my Jane buggy?

Will go and look at the ones you both suggested.

ooooh, probably not tbh. I'd pop into a kiddicare (or similar) and have an ask & play to be 100%

we used the matrix jane seat as pram/travel seat when we changed to cosi one (that we got for £70 delivered and brand spanking new from an ebay seller) Blush

Once our DD was big enough we tended to keep her car seat strapped into the car and just lifted her in/out of the seat, without re-doing the seat belts all the time.

Obviously if she was sleeping in the seat when we would remove it and carried her in it when she was tiny but most of the time it stays in the car. She is still in it at 13 months as she isn't heavy enough for next stage yet!

Wow, anklebitersmum, what a BARGAIN!!!! I have the Matrix cup and couldn't actually carry it with my son in it - even when he was a couple of weeks old...!!, so didn't really carry it around much. I might end up doing what you did although I have aaaages to go to sort myself out - just dreading losing my temper repeatedly again trying to get it strapped in.

My prob is I live in the middle of nowhere and need to do my research online..
