Help with Isofix bases for a Ford Focus (06 reg)

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of fitting Isofix bases to a Ford Focus? My car manual says that the car is fitted with Isofix points but I can't obviously see them, and then I read somewhere that you need to buy a separate part from a Ford dealer to make them available?

Very confused now....if anyone has successfully managed to fit an Isofix base to a (preferably 06 reg or near) Ford Focus I'd love to hear how you did it!

Hi we have a ford focus estate 10 plate. The isofix in ours are basically 2 separate bars down the back of the seat of the chair behind the passenger seat. You then need the isofix fittings that came with the car - they look like 2 plastic cubes that hook onto the bars. The isofix base then hooks onto the plastic cubes.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense it's hard to explain. You could take your car to halfords and they should be able to help you.

OK, thanks. I definitely don't remember getting anything "extra" with the car when I bought it.....although I may have just forgotten! Will head down to halfords then

You get the guides(cube things) with the car seat when you buy one

We had an 06-07 (bad memory) ford focus....we had to buy the isofix bars and fit them into car ourselves. A garage would do it but it's basically bolting the bars into floor under carpet just behind seats... there are bolt holes already there.

Then the isofix "clips" and the square guides that come with the car seat fitted on to them through join in the seat between the bit you sit on and the back.

But like you we spent ages trying to find them in the car before realising that the isofix bar was not there at all

I think it's an official ford spare part so you'd need to see ford dealer/garage not halfords

Ah...Macarooned that is what I feared. Still, sounds like you managed to do it easily enough? And if the part you're talking about is the one I've seen, it's only £15 or so? Does that sound right?

Sounds about right, it was a while ago but am sure it wasn't expensive.

I hope it works for you!

And my DH fitted it.....I remember one side was easy and on the other, one of the bolt holes was slightly misaligned so took a little, umm, err, swearing accompanied by brute force. We only tackled the second side when DC2 came along. Am hoping this problem was unique to us for your sake Grin
