Car Seat Compatibility

My daughter is quite small is still very much in her travel system car seat (she's about 7.5kg) at the moment but I'm trying to find her a new car seat for my mum's car and potentially a new one for us too, so we're looking for a Group 0+ & 1 seat.

Britax have a compatibility check but don't do anything to fit my mum's car (a 2010 Nissan Quashqai+2) and its not definite that they do anything that will fit mine (a 2007 Dodge Caliber). MaxiCosi also have a compatibility check but don't do a Group 0+ & 1 seat. Toys R Us apparently only do the Britax in store, and it doesn't fit my mum's.

Does anyone know where I can look for other brands? Or, know of a seat that fits either of the cars? Many Thanks

My car came back a no on compatability, but when we tried the britax first class plus, it fitted really well. It sometimes comes down to length of seatbelt, ours were changed by the previous owners as she had rear facing car seats too.

depends on your location as we had to go on quite a trek to a big MC to try the car seats out. But the advice in MC and TrU was truly awful. DD is 21 months and 8.1kg, she was about 6.5kg at a year old when we bought the first class plus. They were pushing a fwd facing as she was over 9 months old and they seemed to think it was fine for her to go forward facing.

We tried in store but bought online as prices were better and they delivered to home, instead of having to drive to a branch to collect.

these came highly recommended for visiting but we live in Somerset and the drive wasn't feasable. My cousins live nearby and highly recommend the advice and selection. If you call in advance you can check stock and they often can give advice on what fits.

Thanks Kellestar, they're near my grandad so I'll get my mum to check them out for her car next time she's over that way. Britax think it will go in our car, but it would need to be checked properly. Toys R Us attempted to fit the Britax in my mum's but it didn't fit.

That's awful about MC and TrU though. I didn't have the same experience with TrU, I went in and asked about getting a rear facing as all the guidance said 9 months and she was nearly 1, but the woman I spoke to told me that if i bought it, because she knew I wanted to get front facing she would write "advised as not suitable" on the receipt. I wanted front facing for a reason, I know its safer as rear facing but we had a box van for a weekend with 3 seats in the front, and we'd previously been advised that we couldn't put a rear facing seat in it. Turns out the advice (hopefully) is wrong and that there are no problems provided the car seat was in the middle where there is no airbag.

Thanks TheAngelshavetheOod, I might give them a call to see what they say

Olympicrock, I looked into going to Kiddicare but its something like a 4 hour drive from where we are so that is more of a last choice journey.
