Ford Focus ST 2010 and RF seats

DD is 15 mo and is just about to reach the height limit for her seat.

Today we've tested out two RF seats in our ford focus (BeSafe combi and Maxi Cosi mobi) and neither allowed enough room for a passenger in the front seat.

The assistant advised that she thought that we'd struggle because of the recline of the front seats to fit any RF (also stocked All Britax RF and Recaros) and recommended the FF Maxi Cosi Tobi because it doesn't move and has a deep recline.

Can anyone recommend an RF that allows you to use the front seats in a Focus with bloody awkward curved back seats?

I'll try them tomorrow.

I think it's the fact we've got bucket seats in the car that makes it so awkward but adding in that me and DH are tall which is a complicating factor.

The Britax seats do need less room (we have a Maxway) but if you've tried those and have to forward face look for a seat with an impact cushion or the Jane Exo, which uses a shock absorber to reduce the impact on your child. They are the safest forward facing seats.

Our DS is 4 mths and we have a nania RF seat that when he is 9 months we will make FF in our ST. It isn't ideal as like you we are both tall and the passenger seat is now a little further forward than we would both like. Not sure if Nania do a larger RF seat but may be worth a try

have you tried the Klippan Triofix ? it typically takes up the same space as an infant carrier !! certainly the most compact on the market. The Securatot website shows photos of this seat installled in a Ford Focus. The Axkid Kidzone is another contender ! takes up more space than a Triofix but less space than a Besafe, again photos are on the Securatot website.
Good luck !

Hi, I have a Britax Two Way Elite in our Focus - but the front passenger seat has to be most of the way forward to fit it. I'm 5'8" and can sit in the front passenger seat ok, 6'6" DH can't ...so if he's a passenger he sits next to DD in the back Grin

Big difference between a Focus and a Focus ST.

Thanks guys. I'm off to the incarsafety centre later this week so will report back.
I've see the klippan - if I can get one that reclines then I'll be happier. Any distance driving that we do is at night so would want DD to be comfy.

Thanks for the info on the FF seats.

Update for you. We've been unable to find a suitable seat to meet our needs.
We had fantastic service at the In-Car Safety Centre who tried all the options but there wasn't a good solution that met our requirements. We've gone with the FF maxi cosi Tobi.
