Maxi Cosi Rodi...XP or XR?

DS1 is in a Maxi Cosi Rodi XP-he's 7 and we've had it since he was 3 years old when he was over the weight limit for his Maxi Cosi Priori XP (yes he was 19kg at 3!).

I absolutely hate booster seats-we have one as a spare which we use to take friends children home but there is no way am I putting him in one permanently. They slide around and look very uncomfortable and not awfully safe. DS1 appears to be the laughing stock at school as he's still in a "baby seat" but he's been a star about it and has actually told his friends he's really comfortable in it and wants to carry on using it!

Anyway his current one is looking a bit worn and it sort of now leans to one side so was looking at getting a replacement however it appears that they now don't do the same one. Our one has a sort of base bit which slides under the bottom of the actual car seat and attaches the bottom of the booster seat to the car. It's not isofix though...ring any bells with anyone?

Also is there a point at which it's not safe to use a highback booster anymore? He's a big lad...about 130cm and quite heavy although haven't weighed him for a while. Do they have an actual weight limit on them like the other car seats do?

Have no problem with purchasing another seat as ideally would like him to be in it for quite a while yet but obviously won't bother if it's not going to last anytime at all.

I have just bought 2 of thease maxi cosy rodi as my dd1 seat was touching the side of the car and wouldn't go up any more because of touching. My dd is 134 and it should fit her until 150 cm. She is 10 and is happy to sit on it. She is prob one of the few in her school that sit on something but the law is 134 and seat belts are designed for people of 150 so she will be sitting on something until then.
The rodi has a elastic strap thing that hooks behide the turned round head rest it is very secure
