Car seat in taxi home from hospital - total novice needs advice

Dear car seat buyers/owners/experts,
Forgive the silly question but I don't drive and my partner doesn't own a car. We will need to take a taxi home from the hospital after DD is born, and I'm just wondering, will any rear-facing Group 0 car seat do for this? The seat we buy will need to be used in various cars depending on who is giving us a lift - can any car seat fit safely into any car?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I'm pretty sure any group 0 will do it. you actively dont want isofix (its a fixed point system). my experience is that if you ask around someone will have one they are finished with. it wont feel like it while you are living it but a year is no time at all. congrats on the soon arrival .

You don't need to worry about getting an Isofix car seat if you are not going to be using a car often - they say that Isofix are safer, but a seat belt fastening one is perfectly ok. It might be worth looking for a seat belt fastening one that lasts from birth to 4 years if you are thinking of using it only occasionally. I think the Isofix ones are more expensive as you have to pay for the car seat and then the base aswell. I'm still confused about it all myself! I think Screamingeels is right and it would be good to ask around. Good Luck! :)
