Advice needed after car seat's been involved in an accident

DP was involved in an accident a couple of weeks ago. We hadn't realised how bad it was, but the car has now been written off and we've been told it's not safe to use the car seat, so DP left it in the car at the mechanic's.

So now we're making a claim to replace it, the only problem is the car seat's been discontinued I think and so I don't know how it will work.

It was a Kiddy Guardian Pro (non-isofix) in black. But I can only find Guardian Pro 2's and Guardianfix Pros.

What do we do now to make the claim? Go for the Guardian Pro 2 as it's the most similar? Do you even have to replace like for like?

TIA Smile

Hi, when our car was written off, we told the insurance company the make/model and value of the car seat and they just added the approximate value on, give them a ring if you're not sure. Also iif the old car seat is left at the garage I would insist on seeing them cut the straps and bin the fabric covers if I were you, just to ensure there's no chance of a damaged/dangerous seat being sold on second hand by a possibly less than scrupulous employee, yes it really does happen!

We just said which carseat we'd had, and I found an invoice in an email which showed how much we'd paid. Got a cheque from the insurance company, didn't have to buy an particular seat.
