Group 1 dilemma

Can anybody help me decide which group 1 car seat to buy? I have been umming over it for ages and ds is desperate to be out of his maxi cosi cabrofix!

I like to look of the following

Maxi cosi tobi
Maxi cosi priori
Britax eclipse

Does anyone have any reviews or suggestions on the above seats?

If they all fit. I would go for the tobi as it really easy to fit in the car and it very easy to get child in and out of. Friends had both of the other two so have used all three

I'd not consider any of those, they are are forward facing seats and it is safest to remain rear facing as long as possible (ideally til aged 4 at least)

If i bought again, I'd go RF, but we have the Eclipse and i love it. After having 3 DC and countless car seats it's easily my favourite.

Easy to fit in the car, easy to remove covers to wash, and it's comfortable for DS.

i would also go for a rear-facing seat as they are so much safer

Another vote for RF here. We had a Recaro Polaric but Maxi Cosi and Britax both do a RF version.
The Kiddy is really good as well but I wouldn't put a 9-12m in it. DD3 is 14m and still too small to sit between the headrest. it is great for dd2(3) though

What car do you have and do you have isofix? How much does ds weigh and where is his head in relation to the top of the cabrio?

Another vote for extended rear facing, have a look at the Britax Two-Way Elite.

If you really do want to put ds FF then from a safety point out of the 3 you've listed - the tobi is the best as it fits tighter due to the seat-belt tensioner and fits more cars, however if you don't suffer from buckle crunch the Britax King TS or King Plus are both FANTASTIC seats. Massively easy to fit, has seatbelt tensioners and much more padded than the Tobi, also tested to britax's much higher standard. Additional plus...cheaper than the tobi at around £125 for the King TS and £170 for King Plus.

If you want FF and have ISOfix the the duo plus is a great option which you can generally pick up for £150 online. (You may need a top tether with this one though)

I agree with the others and would get a rear facing seat.

I had no idea they were so much safer until I read all the information on here but after reading it there is no way I could have got a forward facing seat.

Have a read around the subject and see what you think.

Hi, I have been debating for a while which group 1 seat to go for and eventually went for the Besafe Izi combi x 3. I had a good read around on info for rear facing vs forward facing and I decided to go for the safest option. It wasn't a cheap seat...but there are other rear facing seats which are not so expensive. For me it boiled down to space in the car for passenger and safety for DS...and with this seat I got both. The recaro polaric also looks like a really comfy RF seat but it took up a bit more room.
If you are keen to go FF then I would recommend the seats with an impact shield rather than FF 5 point harness. Hope this helps a bit and good luck!
