What weight/height do kids have to be to sit in a normal front car seat (without an air bag)?

they need to be at least 135cm in height or be aged 12 to travel without the correct child seat (front or back seat).

kids of any age can use the front seat though legally,in an appropriate carseat, although its not recommended if you have an active airbag in the front.

Although kids can stop using car seats at 135cm car seat belt adult belts are designed for people that are above 150cm and above so the longer the better. this is some useful advice about how to know when it is safe to do so

My DD10 is 138cm tall and although she could stop using her booster seat she still does as she says the seat belt cuts into her shoulder otherwise. She was however very upset when she realised she had grown out of her nice comfy side impact protected high back booster, she likes the head rest to sleep against Grin I must have the only DC in the world that want to be in their car seats Grin
