Car seats

group 1-3 car seats (9-36kg) any thoughts? Nania brand?

I am considering the next car seats for my twins. Have just seen seats advertised by Nania. Has anyone heard of this brand?
Also I am slightly suspicious that one seat can really suit a baby of around nine months and still be suitable up to age 12. Is it false economy to buy these? Would I be better of with seats up to around 4 years old and then buy booster seats?
Any advice welcome!

I have one of those. It's a high-back booster that you can use with a 5-point harness, or take the harness off and use with the car seatbelt. And later you can take the back off and just use the little booster seat bit.

I got it cos ds2 needed the 9mo-4yo seat and ds1 didn't weigh 15kg yet, which they are supposed to if you are going to use the car seatbelt. It was ok for him at 3y9m except when he fell asleep cos it was totally upright. Ds2 used it on holiday last year - he was 2.5. But he doesn't sleep in the car so was ok.

I wouldn't put a 9mo in it.

I don't know about that particular model but we've got a nania that's suitable from birth to when you move to a booster (stage 3?). We've only used it as a forward facing seat though, we bought it in France after a major vomiting incident driving onto the ferry which meant we couldn't clean the old seat properly. It's very comfy and sturdy, we've also got a maxi cosi in the other car and despite the huge price difference I can't really see what the maxi cosi has over the nania aside from the swivel function to make it easier to put dd in. The model we've got can be adjusted to lie almost flat which is great when she wants a nap.

My friend had them from kiddicare but the are the nania ones. They are good for a second car but they don't recline and my small 9 year old won't fit but still has lots of growing room in her kidfix. Best to go and see what fits in your car those ones also need tightening most times as you put the children in.

Seriously think about a rear-facing seat.Have a look at www.rearfacing.co.uk ,the stats are very clear, rearfacing to at least four is far far safer than ff.

Yes,we have friends in Sweden, there rear-facing is law until 4.My two are 4 and 6,they are both still rf.The six year old will be too tall for her seat rf soon, but she is very light which is how we've managed it for so long.deaths in this age group are very rare in Sweden in car accidents, solely because of the seats.
