Car seats

Anybody else had problems with Britax SHR plus ii?

Bought a Britax SHR plus ii as part of a Britax travel system (B-smart).

The first car seat lasted a matter of weeks before the handle broke. We have been given a replacement and the handle on this one has broke! It is obviously some kind of design or manufacturing fault.

Has anyone else had these problems?

Have you spoken to the manufacturers, or just the shop? Britax have a really good reputation for car seat safety, I think they'd want to be made aware of this whether it's a faulty batch or a design issue.

We have spoke to both the shop and Britax. Both were quite dismissive when we initially rang about the first car seat breaking. We have now been told with the second car seat that it is a faulty batch. Personally, I think it is a design fault and they don't want to admit that, as both car seats were from different batches.

Just to add I have spoken to two people I know who own the same car seat and lo and behold they are on their second car seat too!

Next car seat will be a maxi cosi I think!

Hi, just seen this message. Same thing has happened to me. Had the car seat since March but son not born until May. Handle went a bit dodgy after a few weeks, but sorted itself out. Now gone completely. Phoned Britax who didn't query it at all, just said it would be a straight replacement but I had to contact the retailer directly. In this case, the retailer was Boots. Had a problem getting a replacement as they don't stock them anymore. I think this and the reaction from Britax are good indications that there is a design fault. Unfortunately it has left me temporarily without a car seat for the baby, which is a bit worrying, but that is another story!!

2 x friends (1 twice so three seats in total)and 1 retailer I know have had this problem.

Yes it's a design fault. if you don't push button in far enough it breaks. No very sturdy at all.
