Britax Evolva 123 for 3yo DS?

DS is tall and growing out of his Priorifix, but only weighs 13.5kg so can't go into a a seat with just a seatbelt.

I've been looking at the Britax Evolva 123 and see that the harness is quite high up. Does anybody have experience of using the harness with an older child? DS is just under 1m tall (and due a growth spurt)

TIA

I would go and try her in as you may find it's not that much higher if any.You may also like to look at this threadAs it is a very similar thread and the answers will be the same.

We've just bought this for our just turned 3 DS1, so that his 10 month little brother can use his old priorifix. Our son is small for his size, he's probably under 1m tall and very slim.

We had problems with the harness (it wouldn't tighten) - DH went to exchange in mothercare and changed it for the new 123 Plus (I think thats what its called - its the newer model)

Absolutely fine for him - not sure what you mean about the harness being up high? Doesn't look as cosy as the priorifix though.

At the moment the harness on his priorifix is on the highest setting, but starting to be too tight on his shoulders. He's just OK in it now, so want to get him a new seat asap.

thanks for the link ms, I'll go and have a read.

We used the Evolva 123 Ultra with harness until dd was about 6 as she was small for her age and very light. She must have been at least 110cm when we changed her to the highback booster. there was definitely more height to it that the Britax stage 1 seat she used previously.

Hi LIZS, thanks for that, sounds very promising. Sounds like I'll have to drag him down to Halfords/Mothercare at the weekend and have a look. If the harness could allow for another 10cm growth then it should easily last until he's heavy enough to just use the seatbelt.

we had an evolva 1-2-3 ultra for dd when she was 18m,as she was too tall for her straps in her 0-4y seat, and too light for a booster. it was fab,the straps had a good bit of height left for her too,
i liked the evolva, but found it very wide (no use if you need to fit 3 carseats in,thats why we got rid of ours, also quite tricky to fit and needs a long seatbelt)

theres also the recaro young sport which is quite similar, also looks MUCH easier to fit than the evolva.

width isn't an issue, just the one DS at the moment :)

I've seen the evolva being fitted in my car, it does look like a bit of a pig but luckily we won't have to move it between cars at all. Will look at the recaro too, thanks

ah thats not so bad,it is a thing to note though if you do plan to have another dc,as there might not be space for an adult/friend to squeeze in between.

we take ours in/out at least once a week and our seatbelt was JUST long enough,so thats why it was a pita, worse thing is making sure the belt isnt twisted. :)

Planning one more DC, so unless it's twins (aagg!!) we'll only ever need to get 2 car seats in. Grin

lol, just a shame to buy a seat that lasts until 12 then have to change it (as we did!).

Been to look at them this weekend, and can't make my mind up between the evolva 1-2-3 and the 1-2-3 PLUS.

The fabric seems very soft and looks like it won't last, but can't find a standard 1-2-3 in Jet that isn't £150!

Is the Plus worth getting?

Thanks

Halfords has the 1-2-3 plus in Felix (black and grey) for £99. And Lesters Direct has a black 1-2-3 plus for £89 plus postage. Hope that helps! (just been looking at them myself).

could anyone help me. i'm new to the forum and have just bought a second hand britax evolva 123. after removing the cover on the seat part i noticed there is no polystyrene at all under the removable cover. there is only polystyrene on the head rest. Is this right? It looks to me like its missing. Any one have one of these and can tell me for sure?
thanks
