We're taking our 12 month old DS camping this weekend - his first camping trip. Just wondered what do you think I should dress him in to go to bed? Will his 2.5 tog bag be enough, i don't think you can buy warmer than that but that's what he wears at the mo - in his 21 degree bedroom!....Any other advice would be appreciated! x

Don't know what he normally has underneath the bag, but you can up the heat that way - eg a fleecy sleepsuit instead of pyjamas, socks, extra top to keep arms warm.. Of course, it can be hot in a tent too, bring your thermometer to check! If he is sleeping with you he will also be warmer of course. Hope you have a fabulous trip, I'm sure DS will love it!

mine wore vest, sleepsuit/pj's, fleecy suit and gro-bag (which they can't run in ) DS2 always wore his fleecy hat but he's a weirdo. FWIW, he still sleeps in his fleecy hat when camping, and he's 6yo.

My DS has Vango baby sleeping bag, it is fab. He is 2 in 2 weeks and still fits nicely, it is lovely and snug. Then I dress him up or down depending on wetaher underneath that!

it is here ours is nice brght red, but they are really good

If it gets really cold at night, make sure there's something warm underneath him as you lose heat through the earth or underneath a travel cot that has a thin mattress. I put a towell underneath DD's sheet.

Then if the sun shines in the morning prepare for it to be scorching hot in the tent by 7!

Hmmm yes! I've been freezing before myself like that. But we don't have the underneath problem anymore as we have a camper van

Hi, we have taken dd 5 months camping several times. She wears a fleecy sleepsuit and vest under her usual grobag. She also wears a wooly hat (put on after she falls asleep!)

When it has been really cold we have added blankets on top but she has been fine. The only part of her that seems cold are her hands really. Agree that tents are very warm in the morning sun so you'll need to remove clothing as required.

Am looking forwards to taking her once she is mobile

Enjoy your trip

Thank you so much for all the great advice, i'm sure he'll definitely be warm enough now - good advice for putting blankets etc underneath the sheet/cot and I like the look of the Vango sleeping bag. I'm sure he's going to love his first night under canvas!
Thanks again
