We went last summer with DD who was just 6 months. It piddled it down for 75% of the time we were there. Made no difference at all. HOwever, we are quite seasoned camper not sure how I would have felt if it was my first time camping plus young baby plus rain.

What should I do? DH is out of mobile range so can't fret about it over phone with him!

We went a few weeks ago with DS1 and 2 ( Ds2 same age as yours, I remember you on the postnatal thread)

It was fine. it chucked it down in the night but he didn't wake up, and it's supposed to be really mild this weekend.

Are you going miles away? Could you try one night and see how you get on?

You'll need a decent tent though

Do you remember the weather last Whitsun? (2008)? We were out in it with 5 week old ds4

You'll be OK BUT I woudl say for a first trip, there'll moe likely be a second if its dry

If you can rearrange consider it

If it's just one night I would go, you will be fine, is your tent big enough to sit in?

We went away with dd last year when she was 5 mo for a week and it rained pretty much the whole time!

I would say stay TWO nights if you can bear it. The first night is always awful - nobody sleeps. Night 2 is better.

Are you going alone or with friends?

Still undecided, but if we do go it will just be for teh one night.

Just me, DH, BabyG, DD (9) and DS1 (5) in a wood with no electricity, no loo, no running water, up a dirt track that takes 20 minutes to drive up with the nearest house 30 mins away

Its looking less and less appealing!

Oooh that's a bit different then.

I am, admittedly, an extremely soft camper, but I wouldn't want to camp like that with a baby, or even toddlers tbh, in fact who am I kidding, I just wouldn't contemplate that kind of camping ever.

I need loos, hot showers, somewhere to plug in my phone charger, access to a freezer, a washing machine.......

Why did you choose to start off so hardcore? Why not break yourselves in slowly with a lovely campsite with lovely amenities?

Don't let me put you off though, I'm sure others will come on and say I am a total wuss, and you will have a whale of a time.
