What do you & DC sleep on when you go camping?

We are off to Cornwall for a weeks camping in July. We have a bog standard blow up double mattress which isn't very comfortable so I wondered if anyone could recommend a comfier option. Also, not sure what I should get for DS 4 & DD 5 to sleep on. Are Ready beds any good, would they be better with a sleeping bag and a Kampa airbed?

TIA

I've seen some mention of Fat Airic's on MN. Are they really v comfy/worth the money?

We have a crappy airbed for us which I would love to replace.

DS1 (4) has the Kampa bed which is comfy and quick to inflate/deflate, DS2 (2) has the My First Readybed which takes ages to inflate/deflate and is not as comfy as the Kampa bed - also the covers are pretty useless in the tent, so both have outwell kids sleeping bags and fleece blankets too.

Actually, we use an ikea mattress topper on our airbed to make it more comfy - doubt we could sleep on it otherwise.

Kampa beds are better than ready beds. Fat Airics are fab, much better than an airbed imho

Great thanks, sounds like its a Kampa bed for the LO's. Good idea about the matress topper. Are the Fat Airics more like foam mats than a mattress? Would you be able to put 2 together and use a duvet?

sorry for hijack but I just bough a Kampa and need some advice please
I inflated it which worked fine with the full valve open iyswim but once I closed that one and used the small one it did not seem so good and failed to fully inflate - what am I doing wrong?
no punctures detected

TIA and apologies

dd will be sleeping on that with sleeping bag I think

No, I don't think you could they would just slip around, they are self inflating mats here, they are quite narrow.

We have 2 of [[http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Coleman_Comfort_Airbed_-_Double.html these, one for us and one for the dc's, they are really comfy, and inflate with two separate chambers, so when one of you moves the other doesn't get bounced around.

DH inflates our beds with the car thingy, but last time I tried to help him he did tell me that he usually has to finish off the last bit of inflation of the kampa bed by blowing it up himself (I think). He wouldn't explain that valve system to me so I don't really understand how it works

You could put two Fat Airics together and somehow strap them together using a couple of long strips of webbing or something, with velcro at the ends? One at the top, one at the bottom.

Not explaining myself very well, but we had a similar set up for our Thermarests (bought the straps from Thermarest)

Or stretch a fitted sheet around them both to help keep them together - maybe a small double size - John Lewis do this size

Thanks very much. Think I will probably go for the coleman comfort airbed although would love to try a fat airic (not in stock and also a bit expensive). Can't decide whether to get the kids Kampa beds or to put them on a double together. Anyone else put their DC on a double blow up bed?
