Still haven;t used the blasted tent we bought last year and obviously i will (attempt to) put it up before we go anywhere (IF we go anywhere) but do i need to get it wet and then let it dry first? I have a vague recollection of my grandparents doing this to theirs.

I will never forget the time we arrived in the campsite at twilight with a brand new tent I had bought that morning. We had a bottle of whisky for our holiday from which I was taking little nips. It got dark rather quickly and we'd never even put the tent up. I was trying to read the instructions and taking little nips from the bottle and couldn't see a thing.

The poor bloke in the tent next door eventually got so fed up with our giggling ineptitude, obviously realised we were never going to get the tent up ourselves that night, came and put the tent up for us virtually single handed while dh and I tried to help by tripping over guy ropes and losing tent pegs and falling over giggling. He and his family spent the rest of the holiday giving us dirty looks, going to bed early and generally avoiding us. Poor things, I shall be forever grateful to them.
