Wooden mallets for Slubber

Whilst perusing UKSC of a bored Saturday morning, I came across this which I though may be of interest.

I have my Forge Steel 'tis fab, I think the idea is that with continued bashing in of pegs, a dent is worn into the head, greatly facilitating the pegs insertion, or summat.

Go on, you know you dh needs one.

Well would you look at that, a whole darned thread about mallets.

I may just need to go and get one now (from screw fix).

I am LOVING the Thor Copper and Rawhide mallet. Could they give it a more masculine sounding name? Maybe the Mark II model is called the Giant Musky Gladius Member Mallet.

ta for that Wildy

Knock yourself out.

Compressed water buffalo hide and purest copper. Liking this comment ? Really excellent combination of balance and "heft". A joy to use! ? Gotta have a bit of 'heft'.

Dp now thinks we should have got an Estwing I would fear for the poles of the Blue Diamond though.

I think he is getting a little carried away....

lololol

I am always filled with joy when I realise there is a whole little world of random somethings going on and I stumble upon it by chance. I feel a little more enriched for knowing about the sub-universe of mallets.

I don't think I have used the world 'heft' for quite some time. It's a superb word, I will try and use it tomorrow.

Oh and yes, your dp is absolutely getting away with himself with the Eswing. Plumber21 from buxton is mostly using his for knocking holes in walls. I think on a windbreak it would be overkill.

Look at this one here with the snazzy colours for more delicate work. Any oxymoron if ever I heard one.

Barring the price it looks like a kiddie mallet, the dc's would love one.

Hmmm maybe we all need a mallet, dp could have the Estwing for knocking down walls in the tent, the kids could have 'delicate' mallets to gently tap each other into a state of unconciousness.

Meanwhile, I will be happily knocking in my new Delta pegs with my Forge steel, happy days.

I think the world would be a happier place if we all had a mallet OR a lump hammer.

You wouldn't need to actually use it that much. I reckon just keeping one about your person would provide you with untold confidence and emboldenment.

The vision you provide of family Wildy happily malleting away in the tent is delightful. Beats Family Outwell with their pineapples and matchy torches/sleeping bags into an Aldi tent tidy.

UPDATE

I HAVE THE FORGE STEEL

oh and who knew that screw fix was just like argos but with hard looking blokes behind the counter and rubble sacks for sale at the collection zone?

Excellent.

I didn't know until I went with dp to purchase my mallet, (oh the excitement), on walking in I did loudly anounce 'oh it's argos for boys' A few heads did turn from their perusal of all things tool related, but not as many as when i did some girly clapping on being presented with my new peg basher.

Don't think they get many giddy camping women in there.

FINAL UPDATE

DH was thrilled with his Father's day gift. He hefted it about in his hand for quite some while.

I'm so happy. We have a lovely new mallet

I'm a bit apprehensive about bashing the blue diamond with it, it's going to get all scuffed
