Whitby and Hooks House Farm

Hi,
After several years of staying in cottages in Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, we fancied something different, so we've bought a tent, fat Airics, Cobb etc, and we're going camping in Yorkshire. Straight in at the deep end having not been "proper" camping for years (although we have been night fishing from time to time)
We've booked 10 nights at Hooks House Farm in Robin Hood's Bay, based on Cool Camping and online reviews, but don't know much more about it than what we've read.
Has anyone been to Hooks House farm? Any tips, things to avoid, things to take or look out for?
And if anyone has any info on the local area - good supermarkets or local shops in Robin Hood's Bay, things to see and do around the Whitby area, that would be great.
Thanks!

If it's fine we are going on Thursday so will update then!! All I know about it is it's got spectacular views but on a slope! Know Whitby quite well but not spent time in Robin Hood's Bay - will report back after weekend (touch wood that we end up going)

Hi there

I live not far from Robin Hoods bay and whitby and it is a fantastic area. I am busy at the mo, but will come back later tonight to let you know more

Loads of things to do and see nearby

Great winkling at Boggles Hole
Steam railway in the North Yorkshire moors
Whitby is a fab old fashioned fishing resort - fish and chips from the magpie are a must, old fashioned sweetshop on the walk up to the abbey, donkeys on the beach area - just great

Regarding supermarkets the only one really is the co-op at either Loftus or Whitby, there is also a somerfield at Loftus.

What do you want to do or see. The North Yorkshire coast and moors are fab

Thanks all for the feedback. I'm really looking forward to it now. As I said, I've not been proper camping for years so I'm really excited about getting back into it.

I'm hoping you had a good time fatzak, for you and for us!
