Right you lovely lot, having been reading some of your posts over the last couple of weeks because DH wants to start camping in the summer and I wasn't that keen, like my luxuries to much , I have decided to give in and try it sooooooo.....................

what I need is your lists of the things we need to take with us besides the tent, pretty please grin. So I can start getting things together for the summer.

Also are there any websites I should look at/join?

do a search on lists in the camping topic, there are loads. I am a fairweather camper, and would say definitely take airbeds, pillows and hot water bottles (even in the summer). I am sure you will get detailed lists if you search, but these are my top "must haves"

Similar to NannyL, but also take caffitiere and plastic wine glasses.

Do you really take ornaments?

SheherazadetheGoat Mon 01-Jun-09 09:47:23

lol @ ornaments - don't forget a duster to dust them!

get a couple of good sturdy plastic containers to keep all camping stuff (i.e. saucepans, plates, cutlery) in and have it ready to go at all times. keeps the stress down to a minimum.

NannyL My heartfelt thanks to you, after our computer went kaput last month, one of my saddest loses was my trusty camping list and I have been putting off re-writing.

I am now doing it from a c and p of yours, which somehow seems much less daunting.

<mwah> thank you.

umm 'yes' i always go with a group of friends and we all take a garden ornament and a pot plant to proudly display outside our tents blush

(theres a long story behind it!)

MrsGokWan Mon 01-Jun-09 10:21:24

NannyL thank you so much for your list, that is really brilliant.

Can I ask about the bedding, why do you need a picnic rug and mat and all that other stuff?

TBCoalman, I agree wine glasses are a must

Sheherazade, good tip about the boxes. Thank yyou.

MrsGokWan Mon 01-Jun-09 10:22:43

Oooh!! what do you use to cook on?

nannyL Mon 01-Jun-09 10:58:10

oh my gas cooker thingy whatsit...

that must have missed my list (along with spare gas thing)

i need all that bedding to keep me warm...

if you just have an airbed and sleeping bag you will freeze

you need lots of layers between the ground and your air bed and you
