Camping

Wellington Country Park, nr Reading

We've decided to try camping for the first time this summer and want something close to home (Surrey). Preferably not too basic, but also not too busy/noisy. And I'd like some woodland to play in (it's the latent Winnie the Pooh in me - must have trees!!)

The campsite at Wellington Country Park, nr Reading looks like it ticks all the right boxes, but might be very busy. Anyone been and able to comment?

Yes - we went here a long time ago (+8 years)and it was lovely. We used it as a base for Legoland also. It was quite busy, but not noisy, very family friendly. I remember it had good play facilities, and nature trails. Hope you enjoy it.

Oh good, sounds promising. The play facilities do look excellent - just a bit concerned the entire population of Reading might descend there over the school holidays!

The Park is great although we have never camped there (it was a bit expensive I believe and when we wanted to go you had to pay for more minimum nights than we wanted.

The reviews here seem good - but take note about the water!

We used to live on the garrison nearby, so went alot. Just asked DC if they remembered going when I saw this thread! We remember walking found the lake and the playground. It was never overly busy, there are other larger country parks nearby. But my car DID get broken into whilst parked. Kids loved the lido too, not sure if it's still there
