Yep. Really depends on how many facilities you want.

We know one site that charge £13pn for a family of 4, whatever the season, but it is a VERY basic site - loos & showers only in a field type thing.

Forest Holiday sites have become exhorbitant for a Bank Holiday weekend break too.

i would like a fairly basic site but obviously clean showers etc. dont want swimming pools or anything fancy.. the sites i have looked at look lovely but arnt holiday park type ones so i cant see why they are so expensive

Have you looked on UK Campsite for ideas of other sites in the area you want? I always check out reviews on there before booking anywhere.

it seems that loads of sites have put their prices up a LOT this year

we are staying at a cheap site this year... £10 / night last year, £15 / night this year, a 50% increase!

I think it is now almost impossible to find a site for

We're going to one in May that's £17.50 per night but you also pay £2.50 per child on top which is a bit of a swizz I think. Looks great though, but quite basic site.
Can't believe some charging £40, would be cheaper to go to some hotels or cottages, not good.

I put a bad review on Ukcampsite about a site that other reviwers had raved about. They wouldn't publish it as it was not a "representative" view. Yet I'd chosen the campite on the basis of reviews on ukcampsite - and been sadly disappointed. (Of course, if they'll only publish good reviews, than a bad one wouldn't be representative, would it?)

Just priced up 2 nights in July in Norfolk. For 2 small tents = £105 .

am just a bit shocked about what you guys are saying about ukcampsite -- basically, they censor any negative views?? That's terrible. I've been checking through their reviews for recommendations on the basis that they are independent!

We usually pay between about 12 and 20 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds a night for a family of 5, we prefer the smaller sites with fewer facilities. The cheaper sites are often the smaller ones which don't advertise online and don't take bookings in advance.

some friends of mine submitted a negative review which wasnt approved...

i think you hace to be really careful to state bad things objectively and not just say "we hated this site the owners were rude and it was dirty"...

you could say; "upon arrival we were shocked that the bins were over flowing and wasps were everywhere... the owners were abrupt when talking to us and the same piece of toilet roll was on the floor all weekend giving the impression the toilets were not cleaned at all. although the area was lovely we will certainly not be returning to this site"

my friend had to re-write his 3 times before they would approve it, but eventually they did when it was completely factual, and anyone reading that review would be mad to stay on that site!

Negative comments and reviews DO get through, i myself have read rather alot!

Deepdale is a fantastic site in North Norfolk, reasonable price, basic (but very clean^) showers, loos etc.

And the most amazing cafe, very recomended.

lots of sites censor reviews. You have to be very careful about reviews online. They are not always what they seem.

Youcban go for less than 7 days if you book after July 17th, we've done this in the past and have always got on.

We go for a long stay now though, it's just such a great site.
